Kathmandu: Nepal's government spending in the first two months of the current fiscal year (FY) amounted to 7.49% of the total allocation. However, capital expenditure accounted for only 2.7% of the total allocation of Rs 302.07 billion for the months of Sawan and Bhadra.

Additionally, expenditure for financial management during the same period reached Rs 35.51 billion, equivalent to 11.49% of the annual target. The government had allocated Rs 307.45 billion for financial management expenditure.

Meanwhile, revenue collection during the first two months amounted to 10.47% of the total annual target. Of the annual revenue collection target of Rs 1,472 billion for the current fiscal year, Rs 154.23 billion was collected during this period.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), the total government expenditure during the second month of the current fiscal year reached Rs 131.14 billion. Comparatively, revenue collection exceeded government spending by almost Rs 23 billion.

During the first two months, tax revenue totaled Rs 127.95 billion, while non-tax revenue amounted to Rs 13.12 billion. These figures indicate that Nepal's government revenue collection is outpacing its expenditure at this stage of the fiscal year.
